About the Department

The Department of Commerce, established in 2006, offers a comprehensive, contemporary, and multidisciplinary curriculum in the field of commerce. It aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to thrive in a dynamic global economic environment. The Department is supported by a team of competent faculty members with extensive academic and research experience.
The Department ensures industry exposure for the students to meet the changing demands of commerce, finance, taxation, accounting, logistics, and supply chain sectors. It focuses on nurturing competent professionals and socially responsible individuals through quality education, innovative learning practices,industry collaborations,internships, and career guidance initiatives.
The Add-on curriculum is regularly updated to reflect the rapid changes in the business world, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness. In addition to academic excellence, the Department actively organizes various academic and co-curricular programmes to enrich student learning. Department-led initiatives such as the Bishop Speechly Employability Centre in association with SBI RSETI, focus on enhancing entrepreneurial abilities by helping students and unemployed rural youth to develop business plans and strengthen their employability skills. The Financial Literacy Club aims to enhance financial awareness and promote responsible financial behaviour among students through experiential learning. The club provides practical exposure to financial concepts and develops analytical, decision-making, and entrepreneurial skills.
